I rang the surgery on a Friday morning asking for an appointment for my daughter 21yrs old, when asked why I said we thought she had urine infection as she was getting back pains and burning on micturition. The receptionist said to bring a sample in as soon as possible for the nurse and she would test to see if there was a urine infection. My daughter did this and was told that she would receive a phone call. My daughter waited until 5pm when her grandmother rang for her. The receptionist said that it must have been alright as no prescription had been left. My daughter informed me of this when I returned home, to which I said as a nurse that is not an appropriate way to work and the nurse should phone either way to inform the patient. My daughter then took fluids, paracetamol and brufen at regular intervals until sunday pm when I 111 and explained the situation to them. A doctor then rang back and asked her to come in to the out of hours at the hospital. When we got there, after taking paracetamols, brufen and with hot water bottle her urine was tested and had large amounts of nitrates, blood and protein in it. So she has a water infection and when the doctor did her blood pressure it was 130/80 and her temperature 38.1oc. She was given antibiotics and told to keep taking the pain killers and monitor her temperature and if it rose higher to go to the doctors. In the morning it was 38.7oc and she called the doctor, who told her to come in and be examined. When she went in she was given an appointment with a nurse not the doctor. Her temperature had come down again by then so she was sent away with the nurse claiming she had sent a sample off on Friday and had called her. Her temperature did go up again but luckily the antibiotics of the out of hours doctors have worked. I think the surgery should pay more attention to their procedures with better communication between staff. I also think that if a doctor tells you if the condition continues to see your own doctor you should be able to see a doctor. I also think that when a surgery is having people self diagnosing, i.e. we thought it was a urine infection not a medic, this could be very dangerous if the patient miss diagnoses. I understand that there are too few doctors and nurses at the surgery but some procedures need looking at. I also feel that there should be an email address to contact the surgery rather than place this on this site. But as I have gone on several links and the only contacts are the phone numbers I have completed this.

I have reviewed this surgery and put in detail what my opinion was but for some reason the review hasn't been posted! I will say again, Dr Seaton is wonderful, Dr Colaluca is the next best, there are a couple of lady doctors who are great also but 3 of them are terrible and I feel I am wasting their valuable time seeing them, they don't seem to care whatsoever! It's a pity Mary, a Nursing Practitioner, left as she was a wonderful, caring nurse, Bernie is also a fabulous nurse and is always smiling. The receptionists are as miserable as sin. I came in with my son and sat down while he went to the reception, the receptionist left her seat to get a key for a lady to use the disabled toilet, the lady and my son were left waiting while she went off to apparently get the key, I could see her through the office door, talking and laughing with a member of staff. When she finally opened the door for the disabled lady, she then went back to the office to put the key back. After the whole 10 minutes of being away from her desk, she didn't even apologise to my son for keeping him waiting - absolutely rude and disgusting!

I was Refused a Medication Prescription on the grounds that I had not had an Asthma/Copd Review, DESPITE the fact that I am on a Clinical Trial for COPD with one of the Doctors! I had to suffer without medication for a whole weekend, after which the Doctor in charge of the trial telephoned me, asked if I was happy with my medication, apologised and said a Script would be available at reception straight away! There is a clear lack of Communication apparent here, The receptionists taking it upon themselves to form a Barrier to the Medical team. Appointments are a Joke. This is a case of Bad Management.

The treatment and care I have received has been really good from this surgery, but I can honestly say the receptionists really could do with taking a customer service course. I have often felt that I'm interrupting them whilst waiting at the counter, a smile can go a long way if someone is upset but I feel that the ladies sat there fear their faces would crack if they smiled. Also be warned you will have to tell the receptionists your life story so they will allow you an appointment. Lighten up ladies its your job to be compassionate in an emotional workplace, smile and respect the patients, who lets not forget if it wasn't for us, you wouldn't have a job.

I feel that in the past I have been given a lot of advice and assistance with my medical needs, however on my most recent visit I felt that the GP I saw was very rude and inconsiderate. I felt that they were not listening to what I had to say and clearly didn't want to help my situation. They didn't give me any assistance or say in what to do next which made it apparent that they didn't understand what they were doing.
